The Sagi Stallions, a team comprised of employees from the Minnesota office, joined together to compete in the Minnesota Cricket Carnival on July 16 in Eagan, Minn. The Sagi Stallions, with the help of fellow coworkers, raised $1,750 for charity, which was the highest amount of money raised out of the 34 teams that competed in the tournament.
Although the Sagi Stallions did not win the tournament, raising money to assist underprivileged children in India was an accomplishment, said Gurdeep Singh. “We collected so much money for charity that that is a victory by itself.”
Vibha, an organization that provides health care, education and opportunity to underprivileged children in India and abroad, organized the tournament.
“Since its inception in 1991, Vibha has supported more than 160 projects in India and 10 projects in the U.S.,” said Vibha spokesperson Suchit Sundaram. “As a result, Vibha has been able to reach out to and provide opportunities for more than 300,000 underprivileged children.”
This year’s event was one of the most successful for Vibha, with more than $14,000 raised, said Sundaram. Sagi Stallions’ team captain, Siva Sambasivam, said he commends the Sagitec employees who donated to a worthy cause. “I thank the Sagitec team members who come back year after year to support our efforts to help people in need.”
For those living in the Twin Cities, Vibha is hosting the 13th annual Dream Mile on August 27. The 10K/5K run is the flagship event in Vibha's continued efforts to increase awareness about the plight of underprivileged children.
