KCPSRS upgraded to Xelence 10.0, modernizing infrastructure, improving system stability, and keeping their over 15+ year old pension administration system modern
St. Paul, MNSagitec announced today that the Kansas City Public School Retirement System (KCPSRS) has successfully completed its upgrade to the latest version of Xelence, Sagitec's shared technology foundation that powers Neospin – their pension administration software. The upgrade marks a significant technology modernization for KCPSRS, moving from an older version of Xelence to the latest version supported by Microsoft .NET 10.
KCPSRS, which administers retirement benefits for Kansas City public school employees, took the new upgraded system live in April this year, following comprehensive user acceptance testing.
While the previous version of the platform worked as expected an upgrade to Xelence 10.0 provides the fund with enhanced stability, improved security, and long-term sustainability with modern features.

The upgrade was delivered by Sagitec within weeks, with KCPSRS staff participating only in user acceptance testing. The production cutover occurred overnight with only a couple of minor issues identified and quickly resolved. Sagitec addressed compatibility issues during the pre-upgrade analysis, ensuring KCPSRS met all requirements before completing the upgrade. Notably, the upgrade was covered under KCPSRS's existing Xelence platform license at no additional cost to the fund.
