Finding technology talent is a challenge for many companies today. The US Department of Labor predicts this situation will only worsen, leaving 1 million programming jobs unfilled by 2020.
LaunchCode is building a skilled workforce by creating pathways for driven people seeking careers in technology. They are helping job seekers enter the tech field by providing free education, training, and paid apprenticeship job placement.
LaunchCode was founded in 2013 to help companies find skilled, new tech talent from all backgrounds and walks of life. Hillsborough County's Entrepreneur Collaborative Center (ECC) in Tampa Bay, Florida is using LaunchCode programs to help job seekers get employment in the technology industry.
.
"LaunchCode began its work in Tampa Bay two years ago to close the widening gap between companies in need of tech talent and driven individuals with little access to the skills needed by those companies," said Jeff Mazur, LaunchCode Executive Director. "We want to revolutionize the ways companies hire and Sagitec has been at the forefront of this mission. They've seen the value a LaunchCoder adds to their team and we're proud to have them as an advocate."
Sagitec has provided employment to four LaunchCoders from the ECC. Two of them had no knowledge of coding before they joined LaunchCode. They have taken advantage of the free training in full stack programming and then being part of the paid apprenticeship programs.
“We are happy to have hired LaunchCoders. Their knowledge clearly shows their passion for technology and they are training very well on Sagitec’s proprietary technology”, said Sanjay Bhasin, Chief Human Resources Officer, Sagitec. “Many cities have gaps in technology talent and organizations like LaunchCode are making it easy for employers like Sagitec to fulfill quality talent and grow at the pace we are growing”. All four are working on active projects today and have already adapted to Sagitec’s open culture.
Sagitec promotes diversity and inclusion and is happy to provide opportunities to not just college graduates from traditional pathways but also to talent from any walk of life.
